2011 in Review

I’m not sure how much more we could have done in 2011. We went on 2 great vacations, sold the townhouse, moved out and into an apartment, watched our brand new house being built, and got pregnant. It was a good, good year.

We’re ready 2012!

26 Weeks!

What in the world? How am I 26 weeks pregnant? In 2 more weeks I’ll be in my third trimester, that is insane! I skipped 25 weeks last week with all the Christmas excitement, so here we go!

Total weight gain/loss: At my doctor’s appointment a week ago I was up 9 total.

Sleep: Um, better! I wonder if it’s connected to not being in school right now. Hmmmm??? I still don’t have any idea what it’s like to sleep through the night or anything (totally my own self, not Logan) but less time awake at night has been nice!

Best moment this week: Seeing her on the ultrasound yesterday!

Movement: Peter flat out asked the doctor about this at the appointment since it causes so much stress for me. She said as long as I’m feeling the baby once a day at this point, all is good. I feel her more than that, luckily. But, the bad part about my placenta moving is that it’s covered her movements a little more.

Food cravings:  Icy drinks

Gender: It’s a GIRL! Yes, I asked them to double check at the ultrasound yesterday, and I was assured that she is still a girl!

Labor Signs: Nada.

Size of baby: Eggplant – and she was 1lb. 12oz. at the ultrasound, but ultrasound weights are always unreliable, so who knows? There were good and bad things about having a tiny baby (Logan was only 6 lbs. even, full term, and got down to 5lbs. 10 oz. before he started going up again.). Good = easier recovery I think, Bad = WORRY! That’s all I did for 3 months, worry about his weight! We’ll see what she decides to do.

What I miss: I’m at that stage where my clothes just all feel weird. I like the way more fitted things look, but I like the way less fitted things feel. Getting dressed is always interesting. Some of this has to do with the itching too.

What I am looking forward to: More movement, and moving into the house so we can start getting things ready for her!

Milestones: I only have 99 days left until I’m 40 weeks! Somehow being under 100 days is a little insane.

The other thing that was confirmed at the ultrasound is that this little girl is LOW, just as I thought. Walking gets uncomfortable fairly quickly. I’m all for her moving up a little, but she is already head down, so that’s a good thing. Logan didn’t turn until around 35 weeks or so. Of course, she could still surprise me and move, so as usual, who knows?

Friday Night Leftovers

leftoversbutton

  • Things were great at the ultrasound today, placenta has moved and I’m off all restrictions. Logan also behaved SO well (and Peter was fabulous at keeping him calm!).  I have some other interesting observations from the appointment, but I’ll save those for the Baby Z update tomorrow.
  • My stomach hurts. Ugh. Like not really pregnancy related, but I suppose everything is pregnancy related when you’re pregnant. I would like to not spend the last few days of break sick, please!
  • Speaking of, that break went by super fast. I do keep forgetting we still have Monday off, so that’s a bonus.
  • I had a minor anxiety attack this afternoon when I could not find the medicine I use on my face twice a week (even though the doc said twice a DAY was okay – yep, I can’t do it). I thought it was in the diaper bag from our trip…and I looked there 7 times. Guess where it was? In the diaper bag. 30 minutes of my life wasted, darn deep pocket.
  • I need to write some goals for 2012. Not really resolutions, but I need a plan. But there’s no way they’re starting until January 12, when we are out of the apartment. You know, when life starts again.
  • Um, that is really soon.
  • One day I’m going to get a pedicure again. That sounds really great right about now.

All right, I’m all out, and I think my stomach is putting me in a downer of a mood, so I’m off! Go visit Danifred for better leftovers, for sure!

Thankful on Thursday

Here we go!
  • I've been holding this news in for a LONG time, but guess what?!?! Bestie is having a baby! We are nine weeks apart with our pregnancies and I could not be more excited. I am also quite excited that I kept the secret the whole time I was supposed to. Not that I ever had any intention of telling anyone, but when you work together, know the same people...I was so afraid of slipping up! So, so, so excited, excited, excited!!!
  • We get to see Baby Z tomorrow morning at an ultrasound to check on my placenta. We're taking Logan with us (gulp). I think he'll be curious enough about what the heck is going on that he'll be able to keep it together at least for a little while, and then Peter can take him out if he needs to.
  • I'm thankful that no matter what happens tomorrow, this whole placenta issue is relatively minor in the grand scheme of pregnancy things. I still have such a hard time with my worrying about everything, but I try really hard to repeat to myself "Today I am pregnant and love my baby" and know that worrying about the next day and the next does nothing for anybody.
  • We had a wonderful Christmas and a little boy who was spoiled but nothing too awful! We got to see everybody and I'm so glad Peter is off with us, so much fun!
  • We were at the mall this morning and I took Logan to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. And he did not sit in a high chair for the first time ever. WHAT?!?! Who is this big kid?
  • We also went to the doc this morning to check because I thought he might still have part of an ear infection. Um, he has an outer ear infection. Bizarre-o. However, the thankful is that we have to put drops in his ears and he did really well with the first dose.
  • Two weeks until settlement! Only 14 more nights in the apartment. For 2 nights we'll be on air mattresses and the pack-n-play at the new house, but hey, we'll love it!
  • I'm so thankful for both sets of our parents and all the help they are giving us with the move, we could not do it without them!
Have a great Thursday!

Let the Wondering Begin

I may be completely biased, but I happen to think my child is pretty spectacular. I mean, knock on wood and all that, but he is always such a good baby (boy). He goes wherever, pretty much goes with the flow, and can be talked off the edge of a meltdown pretty easily. By no means is he perfect, but as my mom and mother-in-law both tell me quite frequently, I am SO lucky.

IMG_0333

Yep, he’s a cruddy sleeper, always has been. But, in the grand scheme of life, that’s not going to last too long. Now, the real question is, what in the world is Baby Girl Z going to be like? Will she be colicky? Will she be even more easy going than Logan? Will he melt down once she gets here?

Yep, I don’t do the in between thing well. I don’t do not knowing well. Funny how that is most of my life right now. But, I know right now, this is what I am so lucky to have, and I’m just going to soak it all up for all it’s worth.

I have plenty of time left to wonder what it’ll all be like. Then 6 months from now I’ll wonder what it was ever like before, right?

Christmas Part 3 and 4

Christmas Eve night we stayed with my parents. Peter and I don’t usually stay there, since they live so close, but who wants to wake up Christmas morning in the apartment where we didn’t even have a tree? Good thing we stayed because we had a great time!

First the kitchen from Grandma and PaPa F had to be but together by a few of Santa’s elves on Christmas Eve.

IMG_1062

But someone was awfully excited to see it on Christmas morning!

IMG_1068

And some new Thomas trains of course.

IMG_1069

But then back to the kitchen (ahem, please observe the manliness of this kitchen)!

IMG_1070

Then the real opening began. Baby Z even got a few gifts, including this little sleeper that I found that is the exact color combination I would like for her nursery. Target, as always, is awesome.

IMG_1075

Logan got a new CD player with microphones which his loves. He welcomes duets anytime!

IMG_1091

And then I may have opened a fabulous present, a new camera! Not that I have really mastered it by any means, but I have taken a LOT of pictures trying to get the hang of it! I think it will lead to blogging awesomeness, obviously (that may have been the gift givers’ ulterior motive (thanks mom and dad, I love it!).

So the kid opens up a bunch of new toys (puzzles, blocks, CD players, CDs, a tunnel, trains, play food, etc, etc….) and what does he still want to sit and play with? The guitar of course!

IMG_0090

Reading the block directions very carefully so he can tell Papa F the right way to do things.

IMG_0093

Then he somehow found this hat from Halloween in his toy box. Because, you know, Christmas trees and jack-o-lanterns are always in pictures together!

IMG_0112

Stopping to pose with Grandma F (for just a minute, then back on the move!).

IMG_0137

We left almost everything at my parents house (besides the guitar and CD player) because taking it all back to the apartment for 2 weeks seems silly. It’ll be like new toys all over again!

We left to come to Peter’s parents house and the fun continued! We were so lucky to be able to see everybody on Christmas. We had a great dinner with Uncle Brian, Aunt Kim, and the boys, and then…more presents!

Logan has officially mastered gift opening, no help for this kid anymore.

IMG_0164IMG_0167

Look! A table! Grandma and PaPa K got me my own table and chairs. It’s going to be perfect for the new house.

IMG_0174

And lots of new cars too! Jackpot!

IMG_0182

Baby Z was spoiled at their house too. For a little girl who started out with zero outfits yesterday morning, she now has 6! Now I just need to find some bows to go with them…hehehe…

The fun has continued into today. We are a happy bunch, relaxing and just hanging out!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas, Part 1 and 2

With 3 and 4 to come…

I’m going to try to not be my wordy self, because there are lots of pictures!

Friday night we let Logan open his presents from the R’s and J’s, since we were headed out.

The R’s know where this kids heart lies…trucks, trucks, trucks!
IMG_1001

IMG_1005

IMG_1012

Thanks, I LOVE IT!

IMG_1007

The J’s are molding him into daddy’s little guy, for sure. They know what rules in this house…(I believe this may also be one of the first movies – well, a remake or prequel or something – the J’s saw together!):

IMG_1020

However, Logan may be facing some competition for this present…

IMG_1023

Baby Z (whose name I just wrote by accident on here and had to erase) got her first present Friday night from the J’s too!

IMG_1027

Since we already have a Scout, Violet is a necessity! Thanks J’s!

Saturday we went to Great Grandma M’s…and of course there was running and playing and FUN!

IMG_1030

IMG_1036

IMG_1034

IMG_1038

Of course there were a couple presents to open

IMG_1041IMG_1042

And oh my word…he is now obsessed with this guitar (he pronounces it gee-tar – as in, the first thing he says every time he wakes up now is, “Where is my gee-tar?)

IMG_1046IMG_1052IMG_1053

Thanks Great Grandma, I love it!

IMG_1055IMG_1058IMG_1059

Now, we haven’t even gotten to the real Christmas Day! More to come soon!
