Day One Done!

He had a great day, no tears from any of us! I had a great day too, except my sprained ankle is not very happy with me right now...

It is soooo swollen. And aren't those purple lines pretty?!?! Luckily it doesn't hurt too much when I walk. But I am now in bed with it up and staying here until morning!

Kindergarten Eve

Oh my little tiny baby...

You guys. There was a point where the scale read 5lbs 9 oz on this kid. 

And tomorrow, he goes to kindergarten. 

He is going to my school. He has a teacher I've known for 13 years and trust with his life. But I'm still so, so nervous. 

This is it. This is where he meets the real world. I told him tonight only one thing was important to me - that he be kind. That's it - Kind to others and kind to himself. 

Do you know what happened tonight? 

Yep, he lost his first tooth. And what happened? He swallowed it! Ate a pear and boom...gone. I'm in slight mourning for that little tooth. It was like a gut punch. Yep, he's growing up. 

I really, really hope we've done okay. I hope he knows how loved he is. I hope he knows how proud we are. 

And I hope somehow, I don't cry tomorrow.  

I love this little boy so much it hurts. 

To the moon and back, over and over. 

You're gonna rock it buddy. I just know it. 

Thankful on Thursday

- Grandparents watching children!

- In my bed before 11pm!!!

Surprise! I'm Tired!

Ain't no tired like beginning of the year teacher tired...well, except newborn tired...and regular parenting tired. But, I'm sure you get the point. I am exhausted and there is SO MUCH WORK. 

So just enjoy these pictures my mom and dad sent from their trip to the water park with the kids. 

And I'll just leave this right here. Dressed and ready to go to...Wegmans.

Summer sniffles

Peter and I have both had the worst summer cold this weekend. Like just nasty. We laid low, which kind of sucked because the weather was so beautiful! But we finally found a calm, quiet afternoon activity. 

Yep. They did play doh outside while I wrote name tags for school and Peter set up the hammock! There was a good hour with quiet play, no fighting, and calm. 

Then chaos, but let's choose to focus on the calm, shall we? 

School tomorrow, back to Mrs. C's, and my dad's for Logan! Let the fun begin!

Thankful on Thursday

- So thankful for our grandparents! Pa Pa F watched the kiddos Tuesday, and Grandma and Grandpa K came up to stay with the kids Wednesday - Friday! My classroom would never have gotten as far as it has, so 24 first graders thank them too! 

-Medicine. Bit of a summer cold visiting these parts! 

- Sleep. Sleep is very, very good!

This Girl...

She is so crazy. I pretty much cannot ever keep a straight face. She says the craziest things. She talks ALL THE TIME. 

Here's hoping she's her own person forever and ever, goggles, cowboy hats, nightgowns and all!

Camping!

Last week we had our last big summer adventure. The kids and I went with my mom and grandma to my uncle's cabin. In the middle of nowhere. Like really, nowhere. No cell phone service, no computer, no tv. About as close to camping as this girl gets!

There were some attempts at fishing...

Until we saw a giant crayfish! They were also quite content throwing rocks in the creek.

Lots and lots of running just to run!

We even roasted marshmallows thanks to my mom and grandma's fire building skills!

Sticks, a magazine, and a lighter...they did it!

Then we went to climb a mountain. Yes, my 79 year old grandma too! That's not really a cane - it's a walking stick!

This is how Aubrey climbed some - but she walked a lot too (thank goodness!).

We didn't make it to the top, but we did about 2 miles up and 2 back on the "easy" trail. Logan walked the whole way!

The kids had a blast. While not exactly my cup of tea (there were two snakes - babies - in the cabin...where was their mama???) it was still a good time and always fun to see the kids enjoy new things! 

Big week coming up! Some days at work for me, some special guests at our house...stay tuned!

Bloggity Blog News

So, I have a child that starts kindergarten in like 2.5 weeks. Insanity people, insanity!!!

Because he may not want his life spread all over the place now that he's in the real world, I'm taking the blog private. Wild, I know. What that means is you'll have to use your email to login to see it. Just once, then your computer/phone will recognize it. 

So...I really don't know who reads this anymore, besides a few of you who I know are so loyal. But, if you're a lurker, but know is through somebody, that's okay! Or, even if you randomly found us. I'll be accepting most addresses, as long as I have some sort of clue! 

It'll go private in a few days, just didn't want you to be surprised! In the meantime, eat as much ice cream as you can, with no make up and yoga pants, while you can! Seize summer!

7 Years!

Happy Anniversary to my favorite husband in the whole wide world!

What better way to celebrate 7 years than to rent a UHaul...

And build a shed?!?!

I mean, you know it's true love when you love each other through all that sun, heat, and sweat! Plus, many thanks to my parents for grabbing the kids for a few hours so we could get it finished without little feet all around! I mean, Peter did most of it of course. But assistants are SO important! 

And, you know, if you find some of these in your flower bed along the way...

Snake skin. Like um, real, long snakeskin. Eeeeeepppp!!! 

But really - 7 years is the blink of an eye. And it's been a wild ride! I mean 2 kids later we still manage to laugh everyday and make each other a little crazy everyday. That's what it's all about, right? 

That and building a shed so you can get both cars in the garage and feel love for each other on cold winter mornings too. :)
