Wardrobe Wednesday

In this edition of "Expressing our independence through wardrobe choices"...

(Yes, I did take their pictures like the first day of school because I thought they were cute!)

Unicorn girl! Unicorn pants that she needed, which I bought a plain black shirt for. But hello, she found that unicorn shirt in her closet, so clearly, they match! And her hair is up in one side pony thing, like a unicorn. But she spotted that headband on her way out the door to add to the fun. Shoes by Lands End. 

Next up, Green Boy! Again, because green and green match! And the hair that drives us both crazy! 

Let's all channel Elsa, as I have to do every morning around 7:00. "Let It Go, Let it Go!!!" It does not matter what they wear most days. They are SO proud of their style. Who am I to crush that? And why exactly? It would be purely for me and what I think is "cute." So for a school day? That'll be just fine. 

Now for picture day? I claim that one for me! Pinterest is alllll over that!

Three

Oh three is way, way more than two. Terrible twos is such a silly phrase. Three is two with intent, now that one I can get behind! 

I remind myself that Logan was anxious, that he didn't have a sibling to share with, that he got to make all the decisions - three was pretty much a breeze. 

But oh, it's a good thing her laugh is so fabulous. 

She has grand plans all the time. And she is drama, pure drama. Nothing gets to her like her brother tormenting her, and he knows it. But she gives it right back (and then some). 

She bounds onto the field at soccer (seriously) and is ready to tell the boys what to do. And if she wants to wear socks with her sandals? She's doing it. 

She is pretty much payback for my entire childhood. The teenage years terrify me. 

Oh this girl. I'm so lucky. 

Weekend in Review

We were soooo undecided about what to do this weekend, mostly because of the weather. The plan was to go apple picking, but then the weather looked really unsettled and it was raining out at the orchard in the morning. Who wants to drive 90 minutes and then just have rain? 

So we found something closer to home - a craft fair! It's held right in our town twice a year and is kind of a big deal, but I've never been. We asked grandma and Pa Pa F to join us after they saw this one play soccer...

And they were happy to come! The kids thought the best part was that we parked the car and then took a shuttle bus down to the craft fair. Minds blown. 

It was crowded, so not a ton of pictures. But here are my lovelies and I, eating lunch! 

And crazy Grandma got a turkey leg. She's so wild! 

One of the coolest parts was that Logan's assistant teacher had some paintings there. And we bought one! 

He is quite thrilled with the purchase. So special. It's also possible they got bows and arrows made out of pool noodles, but I don't know which crazy parent would allow that. Ahem. 

So anyway, that then Target and a dinner out, then soccer pictures, soccer, and the grocery store today. I also apparently made Logan's favorite meal ever, chili. So now there are 2 whole things that I make that my child will ask for seconds of - tacos and chili. 

Sleep still stinks. But hey, there's always tonight! It's a new adventure every night, what could be more fun?!?!

Thankful on Thursday

A partner in this parenting thing. Because wow, sleep issues require a partner. 

Freezer meals!

Funny children. They make sleeplessness easier.

Wordless...I Wish it was Wednesday

Yay for 70 degree afternoons and swing sets in the shade! 

PS, she still didn't sleep. Of course. 

Pretty

Pretty hair, huh? 

Yep. It is so awesome. And I of course had nothing to do with it! Picked her up on Friday and one of the assistants had done it. She made me leave it up all Saturday too. 

Saturday night I watched 57 you tube videos about how to braid hair. I was so ready. 

She won't let me near it, of course. That's my child, wants her hair like a wild woman. 

Pick your battles. Deep breaths. You don't have to look cutesy. She's full of spunk. That'll get her further than pretty hair.

But maybe one day she'll humor me?

Sleep. Or lack thereof.

For realz. I totally, totally thought I was done talking about sleep. My children are 3.5 and almost 6. They sleep, right?!?!

Wrong. 

Oh, going to sleep for Logan is easy. Then he has nightmares, or just wakes up, or whatever. So he comes in our room for comfort. Except he can't sleep in our bed because we have a queen, so one of us go in his room. Then we try to sneak out after a little while. Works sometimes, then sometimes we end up in there again. But how exactly do you deny a little boy who needs you in the middle of the night? I want him to know we're there if he needs us or is scared. 

And then the other one...oh, she does NOT like her new bed. She says her room is too dark and she's scared. She has 2 nightlights and we leave the hall light on. And last night, to top of off, she fell out of the bed. Nothing like suddenly hearing a kiddo yell "owie, owie!" She was fine, but then of course woke up 3 hours later scared. 

It's like each night is a great big unknown. I do not like it one bit! But they are oh so cute when they sleep...

I realize that's the back of Lifand head . But I love that he sleeps without a shirt (because he says that's what the big boys do) yet he has his "Spunky" dog under his head, that he's had since he was born. 

I love them. Yes, more than I love sleep. 

But sleep, it's welcome anytime!

Thankful on Thursday

- I was bold and answered a tough question today. Sometimes I surprise myself by being a grown up. 

- My baby being at school with me. Love seeing him walk down the hall at the end of the day and come into my room saying   Hi mommy!

- Aubrey slept in her bed all night last night by herself! One small step at a time! 

- My mama was in a very small car accident this week and despite my kids thinking that somehow meant both jail and the hospital, she is fine!

Kindergarten Update

So far he's learning a lot. He's super well behaved! But oh man, the stories...

- He was making a horse with yarn for the mane and tail. He told his teacher he needed some more hair for the chest because boys have lots of hair on their chest. Bahahaha!

- He also told his teacher Peter was training him to be a ninja. He later told her he was a stealth ninja. Stealth.

-Today we got home from school and he went to the bathroom. He came out and was like "Huh. I wore 2 pairs of underwear to school today." He did indeed, one on top of the other. Huh. 

-Apparently a boy in his class, A, has a birthday in a few weeks. For his birthday A would like to spend the night at our house. And so it begins. 

We gave Aubrey's old crib mattress to a teacher at school and she was so appreciative she gave us cupcakes! 

We ate them at 7:30pm. I'm really, really glad that didn't backfire!

The Jail Spy House Spaceship

30 minutes of playing, just the two of them, without arguing. 

At minute 31 it was all over and I thought she was going to push him off the ladder. But 30 minutes on their own? Fall weather? I'll take it!

Busy Bees!

Whew, craziness! We were busy, busy, busy this weekend. But the results were worth it I think!

Friday night my little tiny baby slept in her crib for the last time. 5000 books people, 5000 books! 

This is what her room looked like yesterday afternoon...

Gah! So big! She refused to take a picture without her Logan. Her bed is of course pink and full of princesses, at her request. Last night was rocky, but tonight she was super tired and only freaked out a little...I may or may not owe her a trip to  Sweet Frog tomorrow...

But it wasn't just a new bed. Nope. That's not enough excitement. 

SOCCER!!! Soccer for all!!!

Aubrey's doing Little Kickers, the same program Logan started with. I can't say enough good things about it, it's so developmental and the coaches are so good with the kids. She LOVED it. I was so worried about tears and fear and she just blew me away. Huge smile the whole time, running so hard - loved it!

Then, Season 5 for Logan! 

He did great! Even totally collided with another kid and hurt his nose a bit, but kept playing! He's ready to be a gray ghost this season.

And now...sleep. Dear world, just let them sleep. Please??? Pretty please?!?!

Thankful on Thursday

- Sleep is going much, much better for one child. 

- The other is at least snuggly at 3am!

- Pajamas that feel like butter. I am not lying. I want to wear them 24/7. They're the PJSalvage ones Mix and Match Mama always recommends. Buy them. I got them as a birthday present and wow, wow, wow!

- My mom cutting math centers! 

- My parents taking the kids to swim tonight so I could do a late night at work. Helped a ton!

- Someone plane landed! 

- Kindergarten prize boxes that make a certain child very happy. Goals people, not bribes. Goals!

- Girls Night on the horizon!

Well then, Part 589

Yep. Pictures on Target. What else is there to do when you see a giant Chewbacca?

She wasn't tired...yep. Not at all...

Then we laughed really hard because I told her to look at me and she said "cheese" for the picture and, she was holding up cheese that she was having for an outside snack! Hahaha!

What, you thought we were laughing at her awesome outfit? Never. 

Um, look at this cucumber that came out of my garden. Doesn't it look like some sort of bird sitting on its nest? See the head and beak? 

It tasted delicious in our salad yesterday. 

It's already almost Wednesday! Yay!

Swinging in Style

Big development here over the weekend...

Someone (not me, at all) built a playset! 

Yay!!! And full shade by 5pm! So I predict that for the next 3 months the Zs will be eating by 5:30 to by able to run out and get a good hour of playtime in! 

It's officially been named "The Spy House." Soon it's going to have a telescope and binoculars, all ready to go! 

Aubrey has already claimed it for her babies! 

Of course, there are already light sabers involved! 

Turns out lots of people can fit in that spy house!

I think I like being a member of this club!

Sooooo very thankful that handy Peter got this ready in time for fall play! You're invited to come over and play -we'll let you in the club!

- Three day weekends

- the possibility of sleep

- the possibility of getting my life/house back in order. After 2 weekends filled with bad sickness and a hurt foot, it is not good.
