My Present

I got a fabulous new camera for my birthday. I don’t have a great track record with cameras…I lost one in Florida a few years ago, one got soaked due to an open water bottle in my purse right before I had Logan…so I had one that worked, but didn’t have any bells and whistles because well – I couldn’t be trusted with them (I say from experience, honestly).

Well, hubby got me a new camera for my birthday! Just a nice point and shoot digital one, and it is great. Now you will be subjected to even more pictures of my fabulously cute offspring (oh, the torture).

Tonight I had a dinner for work and Peter picked Logan up from school. I had given him a few ideas of what Logan might eat for dinner. He really likes frozen waffles. Well, Peter wasn’t sure whether to cut it up or give it to him whole, so he tried both. The pictures that came out of it are pretty funny!

“Um, what is this? Mommy wouldn’t approve…”(for the record, I really don’t care and am up for him trying whatever).

“Hehe, daddy, this is silly!”

“We might get in trouble, but it’s fun!”

They had a great night playing together! I was able to get home with plenty of time to play with my little man and even got to rock him to sleep.

Our week is off to a great start. Hope yours is too!

Surprise!

A special mid-day blog post while Logan takes his afternoon nap cause I am just so excited to post these pictures!

Saturday morning my husband started cleaning the house. Not completely out of the ordinary, he gets in cleaning moods occasionally. Logan decided to help him…

Please note, he does not actually have his mouth on the vaccum cleaner…just looks that way in the picture.

So, the house was clean, and my parents came over to take us out to dinner for my birthday. It’s been planned forever, because my big 30th birthday is on Thursday and the party is next Saturday (haha). Logan was quite excited to see them!

We went out to dinner at Sweetwater and had a great time…

Then we came home, and Peter said he needed me to open the door for him and turn the alarm on. I was so confused, may have muttered under my breath “Why can’t you open the door?” and I opened the door…

To all of my wonderful friends yelling “Surprise!” for my 30th birthday party! Apparently Peter had it planned for last night the whole time, the talk of next weekend was just to throw me off. I’ve never had a surprise party and I was SO surprised! No idea what so ever. It was fabulous fun, with all my favorite people (well, minus KJ and E, but one of them has a 1 week old and one was in a different country, they were missed!). I felt so special! The bestie and M helped Peter pull it off and it really was such a great night.

Logan was REALLY confused when he first came in, there were even a few cries, from all the people. He was quickly whisked off to Grandma and Grandpa F’s house where he spent the night, which meant we got to have adult fun here and he got to play (and we got to sleep in too!).

Off to “real” workdays tomorrow. I think this is a great start to what is going to be a fabulous year! 

Thankful on Thursday

I have slept 14 hours in the past 96 hours. Roughly 3 – 4 hours a night. And it stinks. Still nothing to do with Logan, he’s sleeping fairly well. I just cannot fall asleep and stay asleep. Until 2am. It is awful.

So, a short blog post but I had to give the grandparents some pictures!

Despite the exhaustion, here’s what we’re thankful for this week:

• A wonderful baby boy who turned 10 months old today! Happy Birthday Logan! We love you!
• A daycare provider who we trust and Logan loves. 
• Great Grandma F making it through all of her operations and starting to make some progress on the road to recovery.
• Diet Coke.
• A classroom that is really coming together!
• All of my work friends – I seriously work with some fabulous people (I mean, the bestie, of course, but there are a ton of other fabulous people too!).
• Grandpa and Grandma F who have listened to me complain about sleep all week!
• My wonderful husband, who has had a hard week of his own but still manages to make me smile!

Who Needs Sleep?

I really think this has been a blog title before. Sleep was such an issue in our lives from November – May…Then Logan was doing great, minus a few nights here and there. The past few weeks have been a little rough, but since last Thursday it has been really rough – as in up for 2 hour stretches, wanting to play! Sunday night I got about 4 hours of sleep. I was a bit of a zombie on my first day back at work Monday, but it wasn’t too bad.

Last night…disaster. And it had absolutely NOTHING to do with Logan. He slept great, a little 5 minute wake up around midnight but no big deal. I however got in the bed at 8pm, thinking I was so tired…and did not get to sleep until 4am. It was awful. I tried everything. Getting up, reading, walking around…and nothing. I got 2.5 hours sleep and that’s it. I had a meeting this morning so when that was done Logan was still napping at daycare so I thought I’d run to my parents house and nap there for a little bit. Guess what? I couldn’t sleep! UGH!

So, I’ve had about 6 hours sleep in the past 48 hours. I am really hoping it’ll be better tonight. I’m going to wait to go to bed at my usual time (around 10) and keep my fingers crossed. This would involve Logan needing to sleep well too…and Peter is in the middle of a HUGE work project. Craziness here at the Z’s!

But, our wonderful little boy is still keeping us smiling.

Logan still likes to attempt to climb the stairs. He was so proud when he reached the landing and today he decided to go even further and go all the way up. We stand right there with our hands basically on him because we’re so afraid of him falling back, but he loves it!

No picture of this, but just for my memories later…in our upstairs hallway we have a carbon monoxide detector plugged into one of the outlets. There’s a button that you push to test it. After Logan got to the top of the stairs he decided to go right over and push it. It started beeping and even though Peter picked him up and pulled him away from it he thought it was hilarious! I don’t know that I’ve ever heard him laugh so hard at something that wasn’t a person doing something funny. He kept laughing for a good 5 minutes. Which of course made Peter and I laugh. Which we really needed.

One last thing…Logan has a little crush on a girl at daycare. He’s always been the youngest, but now there is a 4 month old. Apparently he loves to “talk” to her and smile at her. Such a little flirt!

PS – Wow, this got really long. In my exhausted state I kind of just couldn’t stop typing!

What I Did On My Summer Vacation

Well, all good things must come to an end, and summer is one of them. Logan and I head back to work and “school” tomorrow. I’m excited to get back into the routine, but I’ll miss my routine with my little man: our morning walks ending with swinging at the park, running errands, and lots and lots of playing. Fortunately, all of those things can be done on the weekend and evenings too! And, before you know it we’ll be at Thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break and…summer 2011!

Logan would like to report on what he did on his summer vacation…

“I learned some great climbing skills.”

“I learned how to crawl away from mommy very fast! Luckily I like to crawl towards her too.”

“I figured out how to climb the stairs and made it all the way up to the landing today, with mommy close behind me.”

“I took a few naps…sometimes good, sometimes not so great, but I’m working on it (Oh, and I grew 6 teeth too!)!”

“I learned to pull up to stand and I like to practice all the time!”

“Daddy took me flying everyday.”

“I’ve started practicing walking too. I’ll be off before you know it!”

“I got lots of practice being cute, cute, cute, and mommy just loved playing with me!”

Our little baby is growing up!

I did a “Things I Don’t Want to Forget” right before I went back to work from maternity leave. So here it is again…

Things I Don’t Want to Forget…almost 10 months old!

• Our morning walks ending with swinging at the Tot Lot. He loves swinging SO much!
• Rocking him to sleep…yes, it’s not the best habit, but oh my goodness is it wonderful. I don’t do it every night, I promise…but when he needs me to, I love it!
• How much he loves the water – ocean, pools, baths
• What a good boy he was at all the restaurants I drug him to this summer.
• The day I gave him prunes for breakfast…I will never give him a whole container again!
• Shoulder bites…I think he thinks he’s giving me kisses…but ow, they hurt!
• Donald Duck Bunny with new batteries and how hard Peter and I laughed at his super fast quacking!
• That wonderful babbling – love, love, love it.
• Josh and Joey playing with him at the beach. So cute!
• Him chasing Abby…all.day.long.
• That wonderful smile.  Love it. 

Can’t wait to see what new things await us!

Just Because He’s Cute…

I love the romper type outfits for Logan, that are kind of like a onesie with shorts. They are just so simple to put him in, especially for daycare. Yesterday I found an awesome deal at Costco, Carter’s rompers for only $5! That’s better than the Carter’s outlet. Here he is looking adorable in one of them tonight.

There was lots more babbling today!  He had a rough night of sleep last night, up from 1:30 – 3:30…and I have no idea why. He wasn’t really unhappy, just awake. He would cry every time I put him down and well, I just can’t let him cry in the middle of the night. He was up and ready to go at 5:45. He took cruddy naps today too, but that was mostly my fault because of timing of different things. Hopefully he will get a good night’s sleep tonight! For a tired boy he did pretty well with these photos at 6pm!
