Christmas Adam

Nope, not a typo. Today I heard somebody refer to Christmas Eve Eve as Christmas Adam (because Adam came before Eve) and now I can't stop laughing about it. I have no other good title, so there ya go! 

This weather is the pits. There, I said it. I do not like 65 degrees 2 days before Christmas. I do not like record setting highs on Christmas Day. But I especially do not like the extreme deluge of rain that we got today. Ick! It was awful! Just constant rain. I had to run an errand with my mom this morning and take Peter to the doc this afternoon for a check up, but these lucky ducks got to play in the bathtub this morning (a treat for them since showers are the norm here now) and then change back into jammies for the day! 

So today was pretty low key. I mean, other than fabulous news at the doctor for Peter, he is healing wonderfully! So, so thankful. 

But yesterday after the play, we made cookies. I mean, we rolled the premade dough. Z style cookies people, not award winning ones. 

We are saving decorating for tomorrow, and I know Santa will be SO excited to eat the mounds of icing and sprinkles that are sure to be on every cookie! 

And now, sleep. Because it's still hard to come by in these parts for some reason! Gotta rest up - big days await!

 

Play Time

Aubrey is slowly on the mend. Good thing, because we had tickets to the Kennedy Center today. Logan and Aubrey's first time there! I love it. Love it. Peter and I had our first "special" date there. I've seen fabulous musicals there. Love. 

Um, but I had to drive by myself into the city, which is super stressful for me. So first, lunch at Panera to destress. 

Um yeah, Logan gets a salad and sandwich. And eats a ton of the salad. I'll take it! 

So then, we drove, and...I made it! 

I love these kiddos. Love. 

We had fabulous seats and it was such a cute play! A wonderful first play (though Logan has to point out that he's been to two other small plays, Aladdin and Peter Pan, by a community theater group). 

See? I was there too. ;) 

It was a great day of just...fun. And we made it home too! I'll take it!

 

Another One Bites the Dust

Poor Aubrey...

She's a sickie. She developed these spots in her mouth on Friday, and they hurt. I took her to Urgent Care today, expecting a Hand, Foot, and Mouth diagnosis, but instead got every parents favorite completely non- descript "virus" label, only this virus includes mouth ulcers! She goes from fine to puny very quickly and her mouth clearly hurts. Add a nasty nighttime cough in and well, let's just say the Z family motto continues to be "Go Big or Go Home!" I am just SO glad it is Winter Break so I can concentrate on taking care of everybody and we can all rest. 

I mean, rest and do this of course:

Clearly we all know how I did my Christmas shopping! It's not as bad as it looks, since Amazon sends things one at a time in ridiculous sized boxes, but emptying out the package closet last night and today was quite humorous. 

So, on to another week! A week of relaxing, healing, family, and hopefully some fun!

Thankful on Thursday

- My husband played video games today. In the basement!!!! This is big news people! 

- There are not enough words in the universe to thank my parents for everything they have done for us over the past 10 days. Today between school and me getting the kids to swim they were here for 12 hours. They did dishes and emptied he dishwasher, and my mother is in constant battle with dirty clothes so she did all our laundry while they were here with the kids last weekend. And they've listened to me when I needed some ears. So, so thankful. 

- All the supportive texts and calls. We are just so lucky!

- My class holiday party was today and they did great! 

- ONE more day. ONE! Then I can breathe just a little bit easier!

Kind of Wordless Wednesday

When it rains it pours I think! But what is there to do but laugh?

Aubrey slipped and fell in he shower last night and pulled the whole curtain down with her. Luckily she wasn't hurt, but man - craziness!

Best sight ever - Peter read the kids books at bedtime tonight! They couldn't touch him, but they loved it! 

Um, but is Logan picking his nose?

I am worn out. Completely and totally. Combine taking care of Peter with children, school, and holiday prep and wow. Worn out. Much, much love to my parents for their help. My mom was Peter's babysitter today and she also made cookies for my classroom holiday party tomorrow, when I was suddenly in a bind. Love them so

2 days until break - we can do it!

Home!

So we actually got home yesterday. It was a bit um...interesting for a few hours. My parents left and needless to say we called them to come back 20 minutes later. But they did, because they are awesome. My mom spent the night to take care of the kiddos and help me with Peter just in case.  But we made it through and today has been much better. 

Peter even took a shower! We had to take a picture when he was finished because I was drenched from being he helper. 

He wanted to take the picture for memories, not me! See that light gray? That's the actual color of the shirt.

My dad had a special babysitting job today so we could go to the daycare party...he got to babysit Peter! He did so great that we asked him back tomorrow. Pictures to come from Mrs. C's party, but we appreciate my parents help SO much. They did a ton while we were in the hospital, and they did a ton today. And they're doing a ton all week...I just don't even have words. 

We are thankful for all of your support! We'll be running a marathon before you know it!

Thankful on Thursday

There really isn't anything to say here except thank you to all of you. Thank you for checking on us, for encouraging us, for supporting us. 

A special thank you to my parents for their help with the kids. It has allowed me to focus on Peter and when I know the kids are with them I don't worry at all. It's a special feeling. 

Surgery tomorrow morning at 7am. We've got this!!! Adulting Zs, reporting for duty! 

But, glad there's back up when we need it. ;)
