He’s Back!

Well, Peter has been in Thailand for TWO WEEKS! I didn’t put it on here blatantly, though many of you figured it out or knew…I still have some internet phobia about crazy stalkers. It was a LONG time. Now, in reality, we spent a lot of it with my parents. They were beyond fabulous. But, it’s not the same as being here with Peter, ya know?

Today I was driving to get my haircut (see, a bonus because it looked all cute for him AND it was fun for me!) I had on a random mix CD (crazy old school, huh?) and the song “It’s Your Love” came on. I listened to it 15 times I think. And I started crying the first time and had to get it together before I went in to get my haircut! I have really missed him so much. I almost didn’t realize it until today. I was just kind of going on autopilot, getting through it…and then today, when I realized we were almost done, I just kind of lost it a little!

Peter does computer stuff for a big corporation…he has never traveled more than once a year, just here in the US, for a week, since I’ve known him. In the past 7 months he’s had 3 trips! San Francisco, Budapest, and now Thailand. The others were one weekers, but this 15 day one was a doozy! We are hoping he is here to stay put for a while.

And the three of us, our little family! Peter is going to hate this pic…he had been on a plane for twenty four hours and was very tired. But I love it! Somehow he managed to take this just holding the camera out! And yes, I have on two necklaces. The longer one was a present he brought me back so of course I had to put it on right away!

Here’s some craziness….Logan’s thrown up twice since Peter’s been home. Way to hold out until daddy got home, kiddo! I noticed when he woke up from his nap he was kind of doing this strange gulping/burping. Then Peter got home and he was all crazy excited…then we put him in his chair to eat dinner and well, good thing he had the bib on! I thought it might be a fluke because again he acted all crazy fine. Then right after we put him in his crib…again. So we’ll see what tonight brings. SO glad daddy is home!!!

Peter  just woke up from a little cat nap, so going to eat some dinner. A million, billion, trillion thanks to my parents. We LOVE you and cannot thank you enough for all of your help. “Da da!” :)

The Surprise

Really isn’t that exciting, sorry guys! But, to me it really was. I got my hair cut! And highlighted! And I haven’t done either since August! It is a big process because I have A LOT of hair, so it requires a 3 hour appointment…here are the results…

It is WAY darker than usual (see that pic in the header) and not quite as short as I wanted. But I’m fairly happy with it! And I took this picture of myself, so it’ll have to do.

Friday Night Leftovers

What’s left bumping around in my brain this week? Random, random, random…

• I just made these Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, recommended by Tasha, for someone who loves them, as a surprise tomorrow! They are just about the only dessert I don’t like, so it was easy to make with no sneak tasting!
• Today may have been the hardest day I’ve had at school all year…here we go: a crier at 8:45 (right when the day started), another at 9:30, one who MELTED down during school pics at 11:30 and refused to take one. Flat out refused. Sorry mom! One hit in the nose in the lunch line resulting in a bloody nose which I had to whisk to the clinic, meaning I didn’t get my lunch, because I had a meeting during lunch (HR news I didn’t love), inside recess (brutal), and one leaving for another school who I had to get all packed up. WHEW!
• Logan can roar like a dinosaur. It is SO cute. I heard from Angie that Alexander was playing dinosaur at school (since they’re together now!), so I asked Logan, “Can you be a dinosaur?” And what do ya know, he can!
• I’ve watched Dancing with the Stars for the past two weeks. I gave up on reality shows except for Biggest Loser a few years ago. I’m afraid I might be hooked on this one for the season.
• We had a pizza party tonight! And Logan actually ate some (he usually hates pizza) but the cutest part was that I was blowing on his pieces, then giving them to him. And when he took them from me he then blew on them about 5 times. Hehe!
• 20/20 tonight…a church that says your not spanking your child hard enough if you aren’t leaving bruises. I know, I know, it’s designed to get my attention and get me all riled up. They’re some crazy sect, etc. Well, it worked, I’m all riled up, and have to stay up to see it (it’ll be the last segment, I guarantee it!).
• Government shutdown…we have a field trip to the National Zoo on Wednesday! Let’s get it all straightened out by then, mmmkay? REALLY hard to explain that reason to first graders!
• I am doing something unbelievably exciting tomorrow morning. Stay tuned. I’ve only told my parents because I wanted it to be a surprise! And no, I’m not taking a pregnancy test, not even close.
• 17 hours and 47 minutes. So close, so close, so close! Get ready for the happiest blog ever tomorrow night!

Thankful on Thursday

Here we are again! Here’s what’s on our list this week…

• I’m thankful I wasn’t alone when Logan checked another first off of his list…pooping in the bathtub. Yep, I can no longer say he hasn’t done that…
• So thankful for my wonderful hubby… kind of funny that our picture is next to the flowers! :)
• Bedhead! How cute is my cutie with bedhead?
• The weather today! It was gorgeous. Of course, it’s not going to stay that way, but hey, we’ll take it when we can get it!
• I got to wear a dress to school today. I love dresses. I lived in them when I was pregnant. It’s a sure sign of warmer weather in my world!
• One week from today…it will be Spring Break Eve!
• Knock on wood, Logan’s cough seems to be gone…knock on lots of wood…
• Everyone who has dealt with me at all over the past two weeks. Bless you for putting up with me!

There’s more, I know there is…but I’m also thankful for a BED that is calling my name!

Wordless Wednesday

 

Determined

All right, Logan has had enough of this strange weather. Yesterday we were outside all afternoon. 4am today, crazy thunderstorms. This afternoon, sunny, but chilly and windy and with the lingering cough I decided Logan should stay in…he had other ideas.

“Someone has opened the stroller inside. Clearly this means I’m supposed to go outside.”

“What? I’ve got it under control.”

“Come on, come on, a little closer…”

“See mom, I’ll just go out, you can stay in.”

Could I please tell you how hard it was to say no when he pulled the stroller over to the door and grabbed the doorknob? AHHHH! This kid was determined!

Alas, he had to settle for looking out with Grandma…

Come on spring, get here and stay here! Logan’s ready!

And a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our amazing friend Melissa. She is just all around fabulous, is way too sweet to Logan,  and I know this is going to be a fabulous year for her! :)

What’s in the Box?

Well, Grandpa F and Logan!

Ashley had a big box delivered to her house, and knowing that Logan really requires no toys, just potential fun, she asked if he might like to have it. Of course!

We spent the whole afternoon outside (it was almost 85 degrees or something crazy like that!). The box provided quite the entertainment…sadly my camera battery died so I had to switch to my phone…but he loved it! Thanks, Ashley!

 

I’m sure there are plenty of adventures in store! Ahem, and better pictures with the camera (or a new phone – ha!)!

The other item on the agenda tonight is figuring out how to get Logan to sleep better than he did last night (there is a voice in my head saying “don’t think about it” – wonder who that is?). It was just craptastic sleep, to be honest. He was up starting at 11:30, I got him back to sleep at 12:00, he slept until 1:00, then he was up until 4:45. I’m not kidding people. It was rough.  The good thing was that he did sleep until I finally had to wake him up at 7:15. But one issue we have been having lately is that he’s been peeing through his diaper at night A LOT. And waking up soaked, in the middle of the night. So I got some overnight diapers tonight, we’ll see if they make any difference. Of course, there are MAJOR thunderstorms headed our way tonight, so that could bring a whole new level of fun!

Monday is done – closer to Friday (and Saturday!!!!). Oh, and TWO new words today: car and pea. Haha, that last one makes me giggle!
