Busy Weekend

The shower was SO much fun! We were so blessed to get so many wonderful gifts and it was so much fun to spend time with some of my favorite ladies. A huge thank you to the wonderful hosts, E and S, and to my mom for her help. We also got to have a wonderful evening with friends, and it was just perfect. Thanks for coming to see us J Family! :)

Another special thank you to my mom for listening to me cry yesterday! I was SO exhausted from a very busy few days and my body is just not keeping up like it used to. Then I tried to do the elliptical and had to get off after 7 minutes. That's when the crying call happened. I needed someone to tell me it was okay and she did a wonderful job of that. She's great proof that raising a child doesn't just last 18 years!

So, here's the 31 week picture, from the shower:
Please excuse the hand that I put behind my back, making my behind look huge. The belly is still not doing too much, it's there! My grandmother is quite worried about Logan having enough room in there. I guess he'll stretch it out if he needs to! Doctor's appointment tomorrow so we'll get an update then.

The other very exciting part of the weekend was getting the nursery ready! We have put some of the shower gifts away, others are still waiting for a home, but I know a few people want to see the furniture, so please excuse the mess and 1/2 done job!

Well, now it's off to my first official workday at school, day of fun meetings. I've been up since 4:15, who knows why, so it's going to be a long day...

31 Weeks

Well, no picture today...I'm waiting until the shower tomorrow to take a picture then. But I didn't want to leave anyone in suspense with the survey...your week just would not be complete without it, I know.

This week I've learned that I can't quite do what I'm used to being able to do. Today I've done a ton, and the lower half of my body feels like it might fall off. Interesting lesson to learn a week before I meet my new kiddos for this year. September and October are going to be interesting months at school for sure! I'm still doing the elliptical, heart rate has been in check since that one time. I'll post nursery pictures (well, the very early start of it) later this week!

How far along?
31 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Up 14 total on the home scale, we'll see what it says at the doc on Tuesday.
Maternity clothes? Yes
Stretch marks? From the side a few are a little more evident...from the front, no.
Sleep: Last night was AWFUL. My hips were killing me, pillows and all. Hoping tonight is better.
Best moment this week: Furniture arrived today!
Movement: There was a little dance party in my tummy around 2am last night
Food cravings: Still the ice cream and spicy stuff
Gender: BOY! (I wonder why this is on here every week?)
Labor Signs: None. And I'd like it to stay that way!
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie
What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach!
What I am looking forward to: Baby shower tomorrow! So so so excited!
Milestones: There's a crib in our house people. We're having a baby for real.

My Least Favorite Thing...

I despise cleaning the house. It's kind of like exercising. I hate doing it, but always feel better afterwards. Well, I've decided cleaning while pregnant is 50 times worse. I use all the all natural cleaners, but then laugh a lot because I also use every possible disposable cleaning thing I can. My new favorite is:

You just pull the scrubbing pad off and put a new one on each time. The cleaning stuff is on there, it's fabulous. The problem is I really hate all the nasty hair and stuff that gets stuck in scrubbing brushes and sponges, so this way I don't have to deal with that, I just throw it away. Not at all the most green option possible, but then again neither are the disposable toilet bowl cleaners I use or the wipes I use to clean. And now that I'm almost 31 weeks pregnant, this cleaning thing is really not that pleasant. The hardest things to clean by far are the tub, kitchen and bathroom floors. My body just does not enjoy the positions it has to be in for those jobs. And attempting to clean Peter's shower stall in his bathroom? Forget it. Yes, we have separate bathrooms...boys are gross.

The other thing about pregnant cleaning is I can't do it all at once anymore. So when I know someone is coming to visit I have to space out my cleaning. Which means the bathrooms got cleaned today, and our guests don't get here until Saturday. Hopefully they won't get too dirty before then. And, if they do, these are the best kind of guests...forgiving best friends who know you really aren't a slob!

One day I'll convince my husband that we need a cleaning service...it would be the best present ever. Oh, and I really wish someone would explain this whole nesting instinct thing to me. I just can't see myself willingly getting on my hands and knees to clean right before Logan gets here. I mean, put his nursery together, organize everything, obsessively clean the kitchen counters? Sign me up...but am I really going to have the urge to clean the shower and scrub everything right before going into labor? Odd. Very odd.

The Fun Continues...

Tonight we went to Infant First Aid and CPR. My parents came with us for a refresher on a few things. It was a decent class, American Red Cross, all that good stuff. But, the highlight came when the instructor was showing us what to do after you get the baby breathing again, how to hold it on its side so it keeps breathing easily.

Well, my mom is holding the doll, and she starts turning its leg to help get it over her arm...and you know what happens, right? Yep, the dolls leg totally falls off. I mean really, there are 6 other groups in the room, and it happens to my mother. Judging by the instructors reaction it doesn't happen very often. The best part was that after it fell off my mom is holding the leg in her hand and just staring at it with no reaction for a good five seconds. The four of us proceed to laugh uncontrollably in this very serious session, and I could not look at my mom for the rest of the 45 minutes that were left.

(The doll in the picture clearly has not been subjected to my mother's loving touch, seeing as how both of his legs are attached.)

So, the likelihood of my mother being allowed to hold Logan before he's oh, about 2, is not good. I mean, come on, the boy needs his legs!

Ahhh, mom, ya know we love you...never a dull moment! :)

One Word

At our childbirth class we had to go around and introduce ourselves. We were supposed to say how far along we were, whether we were having a boy or a girl, and choose one word to sum up the pregnancy so far. The three people before me said things like, "easy," "uneventful," and "exciting."

It got to me and I wasn't really sure what to say...so it came out something like "anxious" which really doesn't make sense. So, here are words I would have chosen instead:

surreal - I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact there is a human in me!
happy - I could not be more excited and thrilled.
spiritual - I have become FAR more spiritual during this whole thing, for a variety of reasons. I really feel like I have some special people watching over me and Logan, and having faith helps keep my anxiety in check a bit.
funny - I laugh about things a lot. How can it not be funny when you watch your tummy move from the outside?

I'm not going to put worrisome, even though I've been worried about a variety of things the entire time. I still have a million worries, but I'm trying hard to rationalize those thoughts before they get me too worked up. Easier said than done!

In other news, the elliptical workouts may be coming to an end soon. With Logan getting bigger and his head jamming into my ribs, I just don't have the lung capacity I used to, so it's getting a bit harder. I couldn't keep my heart rate under 140 today, which is where it needs to stay, so I may be switching to walking from this point on. I'm going to give it one more try and make a decision then. I really think when school starts up full blast with students again the workouts are going to decrease greatly, I'm going to be worn out at the end of the day. I'm going to give myself credit for how awesome the working out has gone so far, and just see what happens. During a normal school year dealing with new first graders is hard - they are SO needy and are really still kindergarteners. So, it's going to be a bit more difficult 8 and 9 months pregnant!

Childbirth Class

So, yesterday was childbirth class. It was 6 hours of breathing and relaxing...ha, 2 things I do not do well! My asthma has been so well controlled during this pregnancy (knock on lots of wood), but I'm worried about the breathing during labor part. When we were practicing the breathing exercises I told Peter..."Um, I'm not doing it right, I'm not breathing in any air." He helped me figure it out (apparently the "hee-hee's" are supposed to be inhaling, the hoo's are the exhale...I was exhaling on all 3...). Then, when I was supposed to be relaxing and visualizing all my body parts relaxing, all I could think was "wow, that everything bagel in my bag really smells. I hope people don't think that's me."

My favorite part was when the instructor said babies were usually turned in the position they were going to stay in by 28 weeks. Yep, Logan was completely breech at my 28 week ultrasound. No one delivers breech babies without doing a c-section anymore. So, let's all think nice positive thoughts for him to turn around! Because while the actual surgery part of a c-section doesn't really scare me, I think I'd miss not doing things the traditional way, especially the getting to hold the baby right away. On the plus side, a c-section would mean avoiding my two biggest fears, tearing and hemorrhoids, so I'll just keep those positives in mind if it turns out that way.

On a totally random note...if you happen to have your own blog, I found this really cool site that turns your blog into a book! I'm thinking that would be a pretty cool way to put together some stuff from this pregnancy and Logan's first year, without just printing the pages out, something a little cuter.
