Sickie

I know, I have big things to blog about. But my poor little baby...

You know he's sick when I don't make him brush his hair before we go to the doctor. I wild normally never go to the doc for a fever without a concerning symptom (sore throat, ear) but flu has been going around here like crazy. So off we went this afternoon. His fever had been around 100 but was 102.5 at the doctor!



I mean really, so sad...



The flu. Boo! No Tamiflu, because it doesn't really help a ton in normally healthy kids, just time and rest. Good old virus stuff.

We have lots and lots of crossed fingers that he keeps this one to himself! I got lots and lots of great snuggles today, so I'm hoping my immune system is rock solid right now!

Dominoes

One falls, and we all go. The 3 lovelies in my life all have a case of the "yucks." Bad colds I think. But, for Aubrey it's really only a cough at night. For Peter it is general crud, and for this one...



First fever of the school year. I feel like there should be some sort of prize. "Logan, you made it a full 12 months without a fever, what are you going to do now?"

"Well, now that I do have a (low) fever, I'm going to stay home and party with mom! I'll work on the streak another time, but I'm taking my extra couch time now, thank you everyone!"

So yes, he got yuckier during the day. At lunch he told me his head hurt but he played fine at recess. At specials his teacher said, "Yep, he's not himself." So after school I took him to the nurses office and 99.7 it was. It got up to 100, but nothing more than that. So hopefully that means we avoided the big "yucks" that are going around like crazy right now, flu and strep.

And I feel like I just keep waiting to fall victim myself. So far so good. 14 years of working with germy 6 year olds all day builds up the immunity (knock on wood!).

Randoms

Whew, we had a busy weekend! The kind that makes you ready for the next Friday already! Two super fun events to blog about, but since I've been accused of blogging less I figure I'll spread it out and save those for this week! Since I always go to bed too late on Sundays anyway to do the good blogs!

Friday was the 100th day of school! I'm pretty sure this is the earliest it had ever been since we have had NO SNOW DAYS. I'm bitter. And, I blame Betsy. But, that's for another time of course.

Anyway, it's a first grade tradition that for 100s day the classes all rotate to different rooms, with a different activity in each room. The best part this year was that I got to watch Logan play in my room! Here he is building with 100 cups!


And, for the first time ever, my team dressed up like we were 100 years old. Oh my word, it could not have been more fun! The kids loved it, staff loved it, such a blast.


Then I got this goofy picture of my children preparing to sing Happy Birthday to Marisa. And of course they had to wear awesome accessories.


Can you spot a Logan in this picture? We went to Bestie's Saturday morning because she's helping Logan with his R sound (bless her) and afterwards we of course had to hit up Target!


Then last night everybody just had all kinds of fun, so stay tuned for that!

Today we were suuuuper lazy this morning. Turns out everybody but me is fighting a cold. Kids mainly at night of course, Peter all day. I was crazy productive after the morning though, because I have to start the week off right!

Now I'm off to see if anyone sleeps, because last night the coughing was awful. Fingers crossed!

Weekend FUN!

We had a great weekend at Grandma and Grandpa K's! First, our drive down Friday was relatively easy, for a Friday on 95, so yay! Then we got to eat lots of yummy food, relax, and catch up (AKA, "Why do grown ups talk so much" - Logan).

Lots of fun was had with a box from the garage (like really, lots. And Grandpa even cut a window and door).


And then she slid down the stairs 47 times, just because.


Saturday afternoon we went to the Virginia Science Museum. It was a lot of fun!


This wind tunnel picture is too funny! I guess we'll be staying out of hurricanes!


There was a race course where you competed against each other and an Olympic sprinter. Aubrey false started and I thought it was hilarious. But then they finished strong!


Peter pitched some baseballs and beat a robot at air hockey (which was a big deal!).


Aubrey apparently is going to start playing the cello.


There was a whole basement of cool mind and body exercises. On one you answered lots of questions to try and determine what happiness was for you. My result:


No surprise there!

They practiced walking on a tightrope,


And saved daddy from a shark tank.


It was a great museum and we highly recommend it for the 4 and up crowd.

We went back to grandma and grandpas and of course got a little silly!



This picture sums up parenting. Aubrey and I slept with 2 twin beds pushed together - so essentially a king size bed. Please observe my head, Aubrey's head...and Bitty Baby over there with a pillow allllll to herself. And the wall, really far away! "We like to snuggle up with you really hard mommy!"


Sunday we got some more hugs before we had to say goodbye.


And extra pets for Sasha too!


Thanks for a wonderful trip Grandma and Grandma K! We can't wait to see you again soon!

Thankful on Thursday

Thankful Grandma F could come over to play so we could go to a quick neighborhood meeting (very last minute and they are way too good to us).




Thankful for class mascots (and that when I went to check on her it had fallen off the bed, along with the germs. Ewww).


Thankful for twinning!


Thankful for the very sweet kitty who has been with my for 18 years. And likes to sit on dog books.


Thankful for dance parties.


Thankful we get to go visit Grandma and Grandpa K this weekend!
