Loss for Words

I just wrote a post about being pissed off as hell about guns, given what happened in our town tonight. But I'm not going to publish it because it got heated. I mean, my brain got heated and worked up. 

What I will say is this. This afternoon a 16 year old was killed about 20 steps from his high school. By presumably, other teens. It was after school hours. It was about 50 steps from the houses of 2 women I teach with. The victim was the student of a woman whose daughter I am currently teaching. He was a friend of several students I taught years ago. He was a good kid who may have gotten mixed up in bad stuff, who knows what he was dealing with. This all happened about 3 miles from my house - and could happen anywhere. 

Our babies are cute and innocent and full of life - and then stupid stuff happens. It is scary and horrifying and appaling. And I want to put mine in a bubble and keep them there forever.

Weekend in Review

Fairly quiet...just the way we like it!

- We took family pics on Saturday. I'm not sure how they went, but hopefully they'll be at least a few good ones. The kids were good, they just would not look at the camera at the same time!

- I got Peter tickets to a hockey fame for his birthday and it was last night. It went into overtime and the Caps won! Pretty good game pick I think!

- I had the worst insomnia last night and didn't fall asleep until 4am. My lovely children did sleep until 7 today, bless them. 

- Then suddenly they decided it was dress up day? Because Halloween wasn't enough?

We went outside to play and apparently the dressing up had to continue. He thought he was SO cool with the costume on outside.

So yeah, I'll take it! Especially since we have one day of work and then a holiday!

Thankful on Thursday

- November!!!

- Parent Confernce Day is done. Seriously I do not like it. It is stressful and rushed and long. 

- My fabulous hubby taking care of me and my bum tooth. 

- A great 5 year old checkup for Logan - with no shots!

- A good doctor's report for Peter. 

- Yummy dinners that Grandma K left here for us! So helpful this busy week!

- Jeans 3 days a week people. For real.

Tuesday Randoms

Maybe it'll be a thing...

Look who is obsessed with her new blanket Grandma F made her!

She was so mad when I wouldn't let her take it to school. I know, meanie. 

The last fall soccer game was Sunday. Logan had such an awesome season - and scored a goal on Sunday! Totally fabulous. But it was sooooooo cold. He took the cold seriously, clearly. 

Why yes, he did keep his hands in his pockets. 

There was a magician at the party afterwards.

He was not quite sure what to make of it. But, he was a good sport. And, he was the only kid who knew that red and yellow made orange. 

Brilliant. And I had no idea HOW he knew that. Turns out they sing a song about it in school. That Pre-K man, it's good stuff. 

Sooooooo worn out from parent-teacher conferences all day. But, done! I am so not a fan of conference day. 

1/4 of the way done with the year! Not bad!

Happy, Happy!

Happy Birthday to Grandma K! We were so lucky to get to celebrate with her last night. 

With a mini-cake. ;) But it was the perfect size! 

Happy Birthday to a fabulous Grandma and mother-in-law. She never interferes, always respects our decisions, pampers us with cooking and help, and is always ready with a smile and hug. We are beyond lucky!
