Friday Night Leftovers

• Last day of maternity leave! It has been fabulous. Though, as with Logan, the first 6 weeks are a blur. I would NEVER have been ready to go back at 6 weeks, my emotions are way too crazy.
• I only have to go back to work for one week, but it is going to be HARD. Mostly because I need to get my room in shape and pack, and I don’t just want to pack a mess.
• Oh, and first graders with 5 days of school left? It’s a little interesting…
• I am trying to find a double stroller. I adore my City Mini single, but it’s a 2011 so the basket is small, that’s they only drawback. The double for 2012 has a bigger basket, but doesn’t come out until September, and I need something now.
• SO, I found the Britax B-Agile double. Very similar stroller, but bigger baskets. And, adjustable handlebar. And, no bar across the back, which I kick sometimes with my mini. UGH. I do not know what to do.
• And now I can’t stop watching You Tube videos of stroller reviews.
• I’m giving myself until tomorrow night to decide and order.
• The good news is that I now am beginning to have about a billion people I can pass this baby stuff on to as we outgrow it, if they want it!
• Aubrey is kind of on a stinky schedule with a late bedtime…but Logan didn’t go earlier until about 3 months, so I think she’s okay. But, perhaps my mom can fix her schedule next week?!?!

Thankful on Thursday

• Baby Bestie! She is here and is wonderful!
• The BEST news for a friend. 2012 is a good, good year.
• The beginning of possibilities for another friend,
• The chance to make choices.
• Supportive friends and family.
• Maternity leave. It’s been so necessary and wonderful.
• My bed.

So, so tired tonight – off I go!

Meltdown

Yesterday I took Logan to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. Wahoo! Chicken! Inside playground! Fun stuff! Right???

Yep, it was fun. Food was eaten, Aubrey slept happily in her Moby, we went into the playground to watch Logan play. He was so happy!

Then…Then I said we had to go.

My son? My well behaved, good, sweet as can be in public little boy? He lost his s$*%. It was So, So, SO bad. There were feet kicking as I was trying to put shoes on, yelling, ridiculous amounts of screaming and crying.

I had to pick him up with Aubrey still on me in the Moby, which is hard enough when he is still, let alone having a “boneless” toddler tantrum. I think everyone thought I was kidnapping him for sure, with all of his screaming.

Then I tried to get him in the car and he would.not.go.in. I finally got him in and there was no way he was letting me put the car seat straps on without breaking his arms. So I just closed the door and went around to put Aubrey in. I took a bunch of deep breaths, and went back to tackle getting him in the seat again. Somehow, unbelievably, he got strapped in.

The yelling continued and well, I just drove. Turned the radio up and went. And eventually the crying ceased and it was just sniffles, and eventually a little voice was singing along with me.

So, we had our first temper tantrum in public. We lived through it, I didn’t give in, and he doesn’t hate me. I also didn’t get arrested for kidnapping!

Yep, 2.5. He is SO, SO 2.5. And I love him SO much. Every minute.

Daddy’s Dream

In Peter’s dream world Logan will love cartoons, Transformers, Star Wars, superheroes, and all that good stuff that my big kid husband loves.

You know, it looks something like this:

Darth Vader mask? Check. Cape? Check. Transformers Shirt? Check.

He’s never seen Star Wars or Transformers, or really anything other than a few shows on PBS. But he’s ready.

There really is no point in me fighting it, huh? I mean, at least Aubrey and I have our tough guys to protect us.

Um, who is this big kid and what happened to my baby?

2 Months!

Our little Aubrey had her 2 month appointment on Thursday. Here are her stats:
Weight: 11lbs, 9oz.
Height: 23.5 Inches
She’s around the 75th percentile for weight and height. SO much bigger than Logan ever was! But, oddly, she’s actually gained less weight than Logan had at this point. She’s gained 3lbs 14oz. since birth, he had gained 4lbs. 2oz. at his 2 month appointment, but that meant he was only 10lbs 2 oz. So, she wins!
She’s still in size 1 diapers, but about ready to move to 2’s. I may or may not buy more ones after we finish these, I just hate that she is growing so fast! She’s wearing 0-3 month clothes, or 3 month clothes, but she might bust out of them lengthwise here soon.
She’s eating every 2 – 3 hours. Today it’s been every 2 hours almost to the minute. She is still exclusively breast fed, but does take a bottle of breast milk really well (knock on wood, Logan totally started rejecting the bottle around this point, hoping she doesn’t do that!).
Sleep is decent at night. I feed her one last time around 10 (but she sleeps before that a bit) and she wakes up at 2 and 5 to eat. At 2 she goes right back to sleep, but at 5 it can take a little longer. I think I’m getting about 5 broken hours a night, and I’m doing pretty well!
She isn’t a great napper during the day unless it is quiet. When I put her in her crib for a nap it lasts about 20 minutes. Boo. I remember this phase with Logan too. That’s how he started sleeping on me for all of his naps for a long time, but that’s not really possible for Aubrey. She naps great in the Moby, so that helps. On my chest she can nap 2 hours or more.
Her smiles are so frequent now, and I love them! She is really into watching the leaves on trees move, and she is starting to coo which is adorable. She was having a whole conversation with Grandma and Pa Pa F today.

And the photo shoot was quickly ended! Those little rolls still make me laugh, since Logan never had any. Too cute!

Friday Night Leftovers

• I do not like tornados. We had a tornado warning tonight, an intersection about a mile from our house was even mentioned on tv. Not fun.
• On the plus side, we have an awesome basement.
• The geese on our pond had babies. They are super fluffy and cute.
• I love baby products. I have no reason to buy new baby products. I am very glad I have friends who do have reasons!
• One more week of leave then I have to go back to work.
• It’s cheating really since I just have to work for one week and then 9 weeks of summer!
• Baby fingernails stress me out.
• I’ve had a lot of “I need to do better” feelings this week. Just with lots of things.
• There are not enough hours in the day.
